NNPC Seeks Partners to Revive Idle Refineries

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited says it is seeking technical equity partners to help restart its three dormant refineries, despite years of costly rehabilitation efforts.

Group Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari announced on X that the company is reviewing operations to ensure the facilities run efficiently. The refineries, with a combined capacity of 445,000 barrels per day, could, along with the Dangote Refinery, enable Nigeria to stop importing fuel and become a net exporter.

“We are looking ahead with optimism to ensure our refineries operate effectively,” Ojulari said.

The new initiative follows earlier $2.5 billion contracts signed under former NNPC chief Mele Kyari to revive the long-idle plants.
