The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has announced that Nigeria’s crude oil production has increased from 1.5 million barrels per day to 1.7 million barrels within two months, with an ambitious target of reaching 1.9 million barrels per day before the end of 2025.
Ojulari made this known during the inauguration of the NNPC Ltd Board at the State House in Abuja on Thursday. He stated that the company has already engaged with key industry stakeholders to review operations and strengthen partnerships.
“We have had several meetings and set a clear direction based on the mandate given to us. Our journey has begun with bi-weekly engagements with stakeholders,” Ojulari said.
He noted that management had initiated efforts to optimize different segments of the company, including the ongoing turnaround maintenance of Nigeria’s refineries.
“We will make only realistic promises — and we will fulfill them,” he assured.
Ojulari also commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, stating they have sent strong signals to international investors and are helping to attract foreign direct investment.
He reaffirmed that NNPC Ltd would operate strictly as a commercially-driven enterprise.
Chairman of the Board, Ahmadu Musa Kida, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, pledging that the new board would uphold the highest standards of leadership, courage, and integrity in fulfilling the administration’s energy agenda.
