The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, the member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, over alleged anti-party activities and failure to pay mandatory party dues.
The state chairman of the party, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, announced the decision at a press briefing in Kano on Saturday.
Jibrin, who recently hinted at plans to leave the NNPP, had told reporters that he could “return to APC, PDP, ADC, PRP or anywhere I want,” stressing that he was “old enough to decide” his political future.
Dungurawa accused the lawmaker of launching media attacks against the party and its leadership, describing him as a “weak politician” who owes his electoral success to the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform.
“If he was truly strong politically, he would have won under the APC, but he failed. It was when he joined NNPP through Kwankwasiyya that he became a member of the House of Reps. Now he is deceiving himself thinking he is strong,” Dungurawa said.
The chairman further alleged that Jibrin defaulted on his financial obligations to the party, vowing to take legal action to recover the outstanding dues.
“It is a constitutional requirement for every member to pay dues, but he has consistently failed to do so. We will drag him to court to recover what he owes,” he added.
