The resolution followed a meeting of the Northern States Governors’ Forum held in Abuja and chaired by Inuwa Yahaya. At the end of their discussions, the governors emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with federal authorities and security agencies to tackle rising security threats.

They noted that joint efforts among states are already yielding positive results and pledged to strengthen cooperation further to sustain progress. The forum also called on citizens to support the military and other security institutions in restoring peace.

As part of internal reforms, the governors agreed to improve coordination and policy execution within the forum. Plans were also announced to digitize the secretariat to enhance efficiency and ensure continuity in operations.

On the economic front, the governors resolved to work with consultants to boost internally generated revenue by identifying untapped taxable opportunities across the region. They also committed to engaging with a federal committee on technology transfer to support the establishment of a new energy company under an ongoing energy initiative.

Meanwhile, insecurity continues to pose serious challenges in northern Nigeria, with incidents of banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency persisting.

Recent attacks in parts of Kaduna and Plateau states led to multiple deaths, injuries, and abductions, sparking unrest in affected communities. In response to one of the incidents, authorities in Plateau imposed a temporary curfew to restore order and prevent further violence.

The governors reiterated their call for stronger cooperation with security agencies and increased federal intervention, while the current administration maintains its focus on security reforms and economic growth initiatives.
