NRS BOOSTS E-INVOICING COMPLIANCE WITH PILLARCRAFT ACCREDITATION

Pillarcraft Cloud Solutions has been accredited as a System Integrator under Nigeria’s new e-invoicing regime, reinforcing the government’s push for stricter digital tax compliance and increasing pressure on businesses to align their accounting systems with the Nigeria Revenue Service’s reporting platform.

The company confirmed the approval in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the accreditation was granted by the Nigeria Revenue Service in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency.

Under the NRS merchant-buyer e-invoicing framework, qualifying businesses are required to convert every invoice issued into a standardised digital format and transmit it to the national platform through licensed providers. This requirement means companies must either develop or integrate compliant technology layers into their existing accounting and enterprise systems.

Pillarcraft explained that within the NRS e-invoicing framework, a System Integrator is a licensed service provider responsible for linking taxpayers’ business systems—such as ERP, accounting, or invoicing software—to the NRS e-invoicing platform. The firm noted that System Integrators ensure invoices generated within business systems are converted into the required NRS format, securely transmitted through licensed Access Point Providers, and returned as validated e-invoices for compliance, reporting, and audit purposes.

The company also disclosed that it has developed a dedicated middleware solution to facilitate this process. According to Pillarcraft, the software serves as a technical bridge between business systems and the NRS platform, enabling seamless, accurate, and scalable compliance with e-invoicing requirements.

As part of the announcement, Pillarcraft unveiled a compliance middleware product known as UsawaConnect, designed to connect accounting and ERP software to the NRS platform without the need to replace existing systems. The company described UsawaConnect as a purpose-built B2B e-invoicing middleware that links enterprise systems to the NRS Merchant Buyer Platform, validates and transmits invoice data, maintains structured audit trails, and supports regulatory reviews.

Pillarcraft said the accreditation places the firm among a limited number of companies authorised to support businesses in implementing e-invoicing solutions aligned with Nigeria’s digital tax infrastructure.

Commenting on the development, the firm’s founder, Bayode Agbi, described e-invoicing as part of a broader shift in business operations under Nigeria’s tax reforms. He said the company’s accreditation and the launch of UsawaConnect reflect years of experience working with Nigerian businesses, tax authorities, and enterprise systems, with the goal of making compliance seamless, reliable, and scalable.

The company stated that it would support businesses in securely connecting to the NRS e-invoicing platform, achieving compliance with minimal operational disruption, maintaining audit-ready records, and scaling e-invoicing across multiple systems and subsidiaries.

Nigeria’s tax digitisation drive has gathered pace in recent years, driven by reforms aimed at expanding the tax base and reducing evasion. While the changes are expected to improve transparency and efficiency, businesses may face additional technology integration costs and operational adjustments as the new system takes effect.

Pillarcraft, a subsidiary of Agbi Bayode and Co., said its solutions are designed for small businesses, large corporations, accounting firms, and software vendors that need to align their invoicing systems with the NRS framework as enforcement intensifies.
