NSCDC ARRESTS 20 FOREIGN NATIONALS IN KANO

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 20 foreign nationals in Kano State over concerns surrounding their entry into the country and their activities.

In a statement issued on April 7, the Kano State Command of the Corps said the suspects were apprehended in the Danbare area of Kumbotso Local Government Area during a coordinated security operation.

According to the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, the arrests followed credible intelligence reports. He disclosed that the suspects are from Sudan, Chad, and other neighbouring countries.

“The suspects, comprising individuals from Sudan, Chad, and other neighbouring countries, were apprehended following credible intelligence and a coordinated operation by our operatives,” he said.

The NSCDC noted that preliminary investigations raised red flags, as the individuals were unable to provide valid travel or identification documents, sparking concerns about their mode of entry and purpose in the state.

Security operatives also recovered several items during the operation, including 10 Android phones.

The Corps added that the suspects are currently being profiled and investigated to determine their mission and any possible links to unlawful activities. Relevant security agencies have been notified, and further actions will be taken in line with the law.

The NSCDC reassured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements within their communities.
