Hadiza Musa, a nurse at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) in Shika, was killed by suspected “one-chance” robbers in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Monday evening, October 20, 2025. The robbers, operating a tricycle known as ‘Keke Marwa,’ threw her out of the moving vehicle, causing severe injuries that led to her death. She was buried according to Islamic rites.
Sources reported that Hadiza boarded the tricycle, unaware it was operated by a criminal gang notorious for robbing and sometimes killing passengers. The term “one-chance” refers to such scams where criminals pose as commercial transport operators to target unsuspecting passengers. Colleagues described Hadiza as a dedicated and compassionate health worker, with one saying, “May her soul rest in peace, and may Allah forgive her shortcomings.”
The Kaduna police have not issued an official statement on the incident as of October 21, 2025. This tragedy follows a similar case in July, when Ghanaian national Freda Arnong, a staff member at the Ghanaian High Commission in Abuja, was killed by “one-chance” robbers. The growing threat of these gangs, known for kidnapping, robbery, and murder, has heightened fears among residents in Abuja and other parts of Nigeria.
