Former Anambra State Commissioner for Information, C-Don Adinuba, has dismissed widespread rumours claiming that ex-Governor Willie Obiano is dead. He confirmed that the former governor is alive, healthy, and currently residing in Houston, Texas, USA.
Rumours circulating on social media alleged that Obiano—who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022—had died in London.

Speaking to our correspondent by telephone on Friday, Adinuba described the speculation as “provocative” and “baseless,” insisting that the former governor is in good health and with his family in the United States.
He said, “I have received several inquiries from journalists and heard the provocative rumour about former Governor Willie Obiano’s death. The rumour is false. I just spoke with him and members of his family minutes ago. He is hale and hearty in Houston.”
Adinuba added that Obiano has not been in London and has not been hospitalised, contrary to the viral claims.
“Ignore the rumour; it is not from a credible source. Obiano is alive, strong, and doing well in the US,” he said.

He urged the public to disregard the misinformation.
Obiano, born on August 8, 1955, hails from Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area. He succeeded Peter Obi in 2014 and handed over to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in March 2022.
The former governor is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N4 billion fraud.
