Sowore Blasts Obidients Movement, Calls It ‘Political Fraud Syndicate’
Former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticised the Obidients movement, describing it as the “biggest political fraud syndicate” in Nigeria.
Sowore made the remarks while speaking to journalists outside the Federal High Court, where he accused members of the movement of being misled and manipulated.
According to him, many supporters believe they are part of a genuine movement for change, when in reality they are being used. “The pity you should feel is for those who are fooled by them,” he said, adding that a large number of people are being carried along by what he described as false narratives.
He further alleged that the movement operates with contradictions, comparing its structure to a “political Ponzi scheme,” where supporters defend individuals they once criticised.
Sowore warned Nigerians against blind loyalty to political groups or figures, stressing the need for accountability and critical thinking. “They are the only people who plan to fail,” he added.
- His comments come shortly after he secured a Certified True Copy of a court ruling that struck out a cybercrime charge previously filed against him— a case he has consistently described as politically motivated.
