##OGUN 2027: GBENGA DANIEL ACCUSES ABIODUN OF INTOLERANCE, GOVT AIDE DISMISSES CLAIM.

Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, on Sunday accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of political intolerance and “witch-hunting,” claiming the state government excludes dissenting voices.ADS 5

Speaking during a Midterm Assessment Tour in Ijebu-Igbo, Daniel described Ogun State as being run by a “three-man closed government,” where critics are ostracised or threatened. He said his alleged suspension by APC Ward 4 in Sagamu—later nullified by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC)—was politically motivated, not due to anti-party activities.

Daniel criticized the state for halting federal constituency projects, including the rehabilitation of Itanrin Road and General Hospital Road, allegedly because contractors were associated with him. He warned that if the stop-work orders were not lifted by December 2025, federal funding could be lost.

He called on traditional rulers and stakeholders to intervene, noting his past projects included motorized boreholes, solar streetlights, free eye surgeries for over 4,000 residents, and sponsorship of a bill for a Federal Medical Centre in Ijebu-Ode.

In response, Governor Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Information, Kayode Akinmade, dismissed Daniel’s claims as political theatrics, insisting proper procedures must guide federal projects. Akinmade also accused Daniel of intolerance during his tenure as governor.

Despite the NWC ruling, APC Ward 4 in Sagamu maintained that Daniel’s suspension stands, citing his refusal to appear before a disciplinary panel.Headline news
