Born June 21, 1968, in Ikere Ekiti, Oluyede joined the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1987 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1992. His career progressed through key posts: Platoon Commander, Company Commander, and staff roles in the Guards Brigade. Oluyede’s operational record spans ECOMOG peacekeeping in Liberia, Bakassi Peninsula enforcement, and anti-insurgency operations in the northeast under Operation Hadin Kai. His command of the Infantry Corps in Jaji highlighted his strategic acumen.

In October 2024, he served as Acting Chief of Army Staff, a position the House of Representatives confirmed. As Chief of Defence Staff, he aims to enhance inter-service coordination, intelligence sharing, and troop welfare to boost morale and effectiveness.

Honored with the Grand Service Star and Corps Medal of Honour, Oluyede is married with three children and enjoys travel, basketball, and volleyball. A soldier, strategist, and mentor, he is poised to tackle Nigeria’s complex threats.
