A traditional ruler, Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been killed in a violent attack.

Sources within the monarch’s family revealed that the incident happened on Wednesday evening when a group of over ten armed men invaded the palace, apparently attempting to abduct him.

The ruler reportedly resisted the abduction, prompting the assailants to change their approach. Eyewitnesses said the gunmen fired shots at Oba Falodun, but the bullets did not hit him. The attackers then struck him on the head with a weapon, causing fatal injuries.

The monarch’s wife noted that the attackers did not speak Yoruba and were believed to have entered the community via the Itaogbolu axis before carrying out the assault.

The Ondo State Police confirmed that six armed men forced the ruler from his residence and later abandoned him a short distance away, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have deployed detectives and coordinated with local security groups, including hunters and Amotekun operatives, to investigate the crime and apprehend those responsible. Authorities urged residents to remain calm and provide any information that could assist in the investigation, assuring that efforts will be made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
