ONGOING ROAD, EROSION CONTROL, FLYOVER PROJECTS WILL BE COMPLETED IN RECORD TIME — EDO GOVT

The Edo State Government has reassured residents that ongoing roadworks, erosion management, and flyover construction across the Edo South Senatorial District will be completed and officially opened in record time.

The promise came from the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Dr. Felix Ehiguese Akhabue, during a weekend inspection of key infrastructure projects under Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration.

Dr. Akhabue emphasized that the government is committed to round-the-clock efforts to ensure the timely delivery of these projects, which are currently underway at multiple locations across the state.

Describing the initiatives as “legacy investments,” he noted that the projects aim to improve road connectivity, address erosion issues, and boost economic activities.

He revealed that over 250 kilometres of roads are currently under construction across Edo State, alongside extensive erosion control measures, including both surface and underground drainage systems, as well as two major flyover bridges.

The inspection covered several key projects, including the Technical College Road and adjacent streets, which also feature underground drainage systems for erosion management.

Other visited sites included the Evbuotubu Road and Okhunmwun Road projects, spanning approximately seven kilometres, and the 12.6-kilometre Upper Ekehuan Road, stretching from Urhuokhokho to Ugbineh communities.

The team also examined the 1.4-kilometre Catholic Charismatic Renewal Road, where both road construction and erosion control works are ongoing.

Flyover projects, including the Adesuwa–Sapele Road and Ramat Park Flyovers, were also inspected, alongside flood control, gully reclamation, and surface and underground drainage works along Obaseki Street near the Ikpoba River, covering roughly 2.48 kilometres.

Additional sites included the 10.52-kilometre Ekiuwa–University of Benin Road and the 4.2-kilometre Palace Road project.

At the Adesuwa–Sapele Road Flyover site, Setraco’s project engineer, Engr. Lorenzin Maurizio, assured the commissioner that construction is progressing according to approved standards and will be completed within the planned schedule.
