OSIMHEN RISKS SIX-WEEK LAYOFF FOLLOWING FRACTURED FOREARM

Galatasaray are concerned over the condition of striker Victor Osimhen after he suffered a fractured right forearm during Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool. The injury forced the Super Eagles forward to leave the pitch at halftime as Galatasaray lost 4-0, exiting the tournament 4-1 on aggregate.

The Turkish club confirmed that Osimhen’s arm has been placed in a cast. While the initial treatment is complete, the medical team is deciding whether surgery is necessary. A final decision will follow further assessments after Osimhen returns from a brief break in Lagos, where he was seen enjoying downtime with his exotic car collection.

Turkish journalist Ali Naci Kucuk noted that if surgery is required, Osimhen could be sidelined for at least six weeks. Teammate Noa Lang also suffered a serious thumb injury during the same match and is scheduled for surgery in Liverpool.

In market value news, Osimhen has dropped slightly in Africa’s latest rankings. Transfermarkt reports that Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo now leads at €80 million alongside Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, while Osimhen, valued at €75 million, shares third place with Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo. Despite the drop, Osimhen remains the highest-valued Nigerian player and the top player in the Turkish Süper Lig. Globally, he ranks 41st overall and eighth among centre-forwards.

Transfermarkt’s Turkey area manager, Lara Karacan, praised Osimhen’s impact beyond the pitch, saying, “Osimhen is a brand. He is not only a player, he is a figure in football.”
