###OSUN 2026: ADELEKE DUMPS PDP OVER PARTY LEADERSHIP CRISIS.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).ADS 5

According to a statement issued late Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke formally withdrew his membership on November 4, 2025, in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area.

In the letter, the governor cited the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP as his reason for leaving. “Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,” he wrote.

Adeleke expressed gratitude to the party for the platform it provided him to serve as a senator for Osun West and later as governor.

Although he has not yet announced his next political destination, speculation is growing that he may join the Accord Party ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun.

His exit leaves the PDP with only one sitting governor in the South-West—Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

The PDP has struggled with internal divisions since its defeat in the 2023 general election. The emergence of Turaki as the party’s new national chairman, instead of resolving the conflict, has reportedly deepened the crisis.Headline news
