A former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Mulikat Abiola, has joined the All Progressives Congress governorship race ahead of the party’s primary election by purchasing the nomination form.
Abiola, who represented Ifelodun State Constituency from 2018 to 2023, declared her intention to contest the election with the aim of unseating the incumbent governor and restoring what she described as the lost glory of the state.

She said her decision to enter the race was driven by the continued marginalisation of women in politics, stressing that it was time to give women a stronger voice and leadership role in Osun State.
According to her, poor inclusion of women in governance has limited their impact, and the time has come to raise political awareness and encourage women to actively participate and lead.

Abiola stated that her ambition was also to inspire women to take their rightful place in leadership, insisting that Osun State belongs to all its people and not a select few.
She expressed confidence in her chances, saying she was not distracted by other aspirants and remained optimistic about winning the party’s primary and the governorship election.

The former lawmaker added that women had long been treated as secondary players in politics and pledged to challenge that narrative by offering purposeful leadership if elected.
