The Osun State government has accused All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji of corruption, mismanagement of public funds, and policies harmful to workers during his tenure in various public offices.
According to a statement issued by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Oyebamiji allegedly mismanaged a $20 million World Bank primary healthcare grant and state-owned mining licences while serving as Commissioner for Finance. The statement claimed these failures contributed to financial losses and were later corrected under the current administration.

The government also alleged that as head of the Osun State Investment Company (OSICOL), Oyebamiji mishandled state assets in Lagos and Abuja and mismanaged mining investments, including the Segilola project, which resulted in revenue losses for the state. He was further accused of authorising the sale of the state’s holding in Omoluabi through a process described as “less-than-transparent.”
Beyond financial matters, the statement criticised Oyebamiji for supporting policies detrimental to workers, including unpaid pensions and half salaries. His tenure as Managing Director of the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) was also called into question, with claims that over 1,000 waterway deaths occurred during his leadership.
In response, APC Director of Media and Publicity in Osun State, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the allegations as false theatrics, insisting that Oyebamiji was not involved in corruption and that the party would address the claims appropriately.
The accusations come amid increasing tension ahead of the Osun State gubernatorial election, with parties trading claims and counterclaims as the campaign intensifies.
