#Osun Murder Update: NURTW Boss, APC Chieftain, Police Arrest Eight Persons.

The Osun police command has reportedly arrested eight persons over the killing of Alli Kazeem, popularly known as Kekere Kazuma, the Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Isokan local government and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alli, who was said to have played a vital role for APC in the July 16 governorship election in the state who was reportedly shot dead by the assailants in Apomu on Saturday evening, August 20, 2022.

The assailants were said to have trailed Alli, who was said to be traveling in his car to Oka Alfa area where he was shot dead by gunmen travelling in two vehicles.

Speaking on the incident, Tajudeen Bello, NURTW chairman in Isokan LGA, said Kazeem played a vital role for the APC in the 2022 Osun governorship election.

“Alhaji Kazeem played a major role during the 2022 Osun state governorship election,” Bello said.

“As a chairman of NURTW, he directed all his members to vote for APC and threatened that anybody who voted for PDP will be dealt with as long as he is the chairman. He was reported at the palace and he stood by his words.”

Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson of the Osun police command confirming the arrests of the assailants said; said Kazeem was whisked away by an unknown person on Saturday.

“The area commander, Ikire, promptly mobilised a combined team of vigilante and police detectives to the scene where it was discovered that the victim left the motor park at Apomu and was traced to Oke-Afa area, from where he was forcefully stopped, drawn out from his Toyota Corolla Ash colour with registration number APM 203 AA, matcheted and taken away by the assailants,” the statement reads.

“It was further gathered that the assailants came with an unregistered black Toyota Corolla Car.

“While tactical team, local hunters and natives have been mobilised to comb the surrounding bush to rescue the victim, presently, eight suspects have been arrested in connection to the case.”

Meanwhile, the Osun APC has stated that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was responsible for the killing of the NURTW boss.

The party speaking in a statement through the Media Adviser to Osun APC chairman, Kola Olabisi, said the “APC chairman, Gboyega Famodun, was apparently disturbed, stated that the killing of the 48-year-old APC chieftain, Kazeem Alli popularly known as Kekere Pasuma, from Ward 6 who performed actively during the last governorship election, was wicked, callous and highly condemnable.

“It was gathered that some gunmen allegedly sponsored by some stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday killed the APC chieftain.”
