PANIC AS SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS ABDUCT YOUNG LADY IN IBADAN

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a young woman identified as Adetutu Aderibigbe in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening at the Bolumole area, off Ring Road, where the victim was said to have been seized in front of her residence around 6:00 pm.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that about four armed men were involved in the operation. The attackers were said to have arrived in a black Lexus SUV without a number plate before whisking her away to an unknown destination.

A family member who witnessed the incident was reportedly left unharmed.

As of Friday, the whereabouts of the victim remain unknown, sparking concern among residents of the area.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said investigations had begun and efforts were underway to rescue the victim.

According to him, the operation took place at about 6:00 pm on April 8, 2026, when the victim was attacked while trying to enter her residence.

He added that the assailants wore masks and operated with an unregistered vehicle, making immediate identification difficult.

The latest abduction adds to growing security concerns in parts of Ibadan, following similar incidents in recent months. In March, several people were also abducted at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria in Oluyole Local Government Area.

Authorities say security operations are ongoing, while residents continue to call for stronger measures to curb rising cases of kidnapping across the state.
