Pantami Leaving APC Will Affect North — Party Chieftain

A senior All Progressives Congress (APC) leader from Bauchi State, Khamis Darazo, has warned that the potential departure of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, would be a significant political setback for the ruling party in the North.

Speaking with journalists in Bauchi on Sunday, Darazo urged the presidency and APC national leadership to intervene promptly, amid reports that Pantami may be considering leaving the party.

“The likely exit of Professor Pantami would be a major political loss and setback for the APC, both in the North and across Nigeria,” Darazo said.

He described Pantami as “more than a politician — an intellectual, reformer, and bridge-builder” who has consistently promoted good governance and inspired young Nigerians through his knowledge, faith, and integrity.

Darazo also highlighted Pantami’s achievements during his tenure under former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that his leadership at the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy significantly advanced Nigeria’s digital sector, creating opportunities in innovation, job creation, and entrepreneurship.

Cautioning that Pantami’s departure could weaken the party’s intellectual and moral foundation, Darazo called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Chairman, and other key stakeholders to engage the former minister to address any grievances or misunderstandings.

“The APC’s strength lies in unity, inclusion, and visionary leadership. Losing a loyal member like Professor Pantami, whose influence transcends party lines, would send a discouraging message to millions of Nigerian youths,” he said, while reaffirming his support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Darazo urged the party to act swiftly, emphasizing that the APC “cannot afford to lose such an invaluable pillar at this defining stage of our political journey.”
