At least ten people are feared dead following a horrific accident involving six vehicles on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
The crash, which occurred near Soka, involved three Nissan Micra taxis and three articulated trucks, all reportedly traveling from the Iwo Road axis.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident began when a trailer ahead collided with another trailer that was attempting to reverse out of an abandoned filling station. The impact triggered a chain reaction, as three additional trailers following closely behind rammed into the scene, crashing into four Micra cars and a Toyota Camry.
One of the Micra vehicles was completely crushed, resulting in the instant death of the driver and three passengers. A couple who had boarded another Micra from nearby Sanyo were also caught in the wreck. Tragically, the wife died at the scene, while her husband, seated in front, survived with minor injuries.
Several other victims sustained serious injuries and were quickly rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has since evacuated the deceased and is continuing investigations into the cause of the incident.
