Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar paid a visit to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan at his Abuja residence on Saturday.

This marked their first meeting since Jonathan returned from an election observation mission in Guinea-Bissau.

Sharing photos of the encounter on his verified social media accounts on Sunday, Atiku wrote:
“It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.”
Jonathan, who led the country from 2010 to 2015, lost his reelection bid to Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

The visit comes after Atiku officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He cited concerns that the PDP had strayed from the principles of its founding fathers.

Observers suggest that Atiku could emerge as the ADC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
