Troops of Operation PEACE SHIELD have arrested a suspected arms distributor, Ishaya Musa, at the Jebbu Bassa Bypass checkpoint in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. According to a statement by the operation’s Media Information Officer, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the arrest followed an intelligence-driven stop-and-search operation.
A search of the suspect’s belongings uncovered several locally made rifles, a dane gun, an expended cartridge, and other items linked to illegal weapons supply. Zhakom said the operation reflects the Joint Task Force’s commitment to curbing arms proliferation and enhancing security in Plateau and neighbouring states.
He urged residents to remain alert and support security agencies with timely information, especially during the harvest and festive season.
