POLICE ARREST TEENAGER FOR ARMED ROBBERY IN BAUCHI

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old, Saihanu Ahmad, over an armed robbery at an off-campus lodge belonging to students of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafi’u Habib.

According to the police, the incident happened on April 5, 2026, when two armed men stormed the students’ lodge and carted away several valuables, including mobile phones and a laptop.

Habib said four of the affected students reported the case at the ‘E’ Division in Yalwa on the same day, prompting an immediate investigation.

Among the items stolen were multiple smartphones of different brands and a Samsung laptop. During the investigation, police operatives were able to recover one of the stolen devices — a Redmi A3 — from the suspect.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has since directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and intensify efforts to track down the second suspect who is still at large.

He also commended the officers involved in the arrest and encouraged members of the public to continue providing useful information to support crime-fighting efforts.

The police assured residents that efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining stolen items and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.

They also advised students living off-campus to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity around them.

The suspect remains in custody and will be charged in court once investigations are completed.
