The suspects were intercepted while riding a motorcycle, and a search uncovered the concealed arms and ammunition. “Six AK-47 magazines and 305 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from their possession,” Sadiq said.

Initial investigations indicate that the suspects obtained the weapons and ammunition from Jos, Plateau State, and were allegedly transporting them to a suspected armed bandit leader.

“The suspects and the recovered items are now in police custody, and investigations are ongoing. Further updates will be provided in due course,” the statement added.

The arrest comes following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, calling for intensified policing to ensure security, especially along major highways.

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Bello Shehu, commended the officers for the successful operation and encouraged the public to continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information to help combat crime.
