Police Confirm EFCC Raid in Akwa Ibom, Deny Abduction Reports

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has dismissed media reports claiming that armed men raided a students’ lodge in Ikot Ekpene and abducted 15 students.

Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John clarified in a statement that the alleged abduction was actually a lawful operation conducted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Uyo Zonal Office.

According to John, police received a distress call about a supposed robbery on October 24, 2025. Officers who arrived at the scene discovered the operatives were EFCC officials carrying out an authorized raid, not kidnappers.
