The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that an assassination attempt was made on Nigerian Navy officer Lt. A.M. Yerima, who recently had a confrontation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
In a statement released on Sunday, Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh described the circulating allegations as unfounded and unverified. She noted that no such case has been reported or documented anywhere within Abuja.

The Command urged the public to ignore the viral claims, warning against the spread of misinformation capable of causing unnecessary fear.
According to earlier reports, Yerima was allegedly followed by unknown men dressed in black and driving two unmarked Hilux vans from the NIPCO Filling Station along the Expressway to Gado Nasco Way. The officer was said to have detected the surveillance and used a tactical move to evade the suspected trackers around 6:30 p.m.

Sources noted that the matter is under investigation, although details are being kept confidential to avoid jeopardizing the process.
Lt. Yerima recently made headlines after a clash with Minister Wike during an inspection of a disputed plot of land in the Gaduwa District of Abuja.
