Police Hand Over Body of Canadian National Found Dead in Lagos Hotel to Family

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the body of a Canadian national, identified as Mr. Dwight Sullivan, has been released to his family for cremation following his death in a hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to the police, Sullivan was discovered lifeless in his hotel room on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from officers of the Victoria Island Division after a distress call was received.

Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said officers arrived at the scene promptly and conducted a preliminary examination.

“Upon arrival, our officers discovered that there were no visible marks of violence on the deceased, suggesting that no foul play was immediately suspected,” Adebisi explained.

She noted that the body was taken to the morgue for preservation while investigations were launched to determine the cause of death.

Adebisi further disclosed that the command had contacted the Canadian Embassy in Nigeria, through which a family member of the deceased was reached.

“The relative has since taken custody of the corpse for cremation,” she confirmed.

As of press time, police investigations into the exact cause of Sullivan’s death are still ongoing.
