The Nigeria Police Force in Kebbi State has launched a comprehensive security clearance operation following coordinated bandit attacks that left 44 people dead across several communities in Shanga Local Government Area.
The affected villages, including Gebe, Kalkami, Kawara, Kasoshi, Awaye, Tungar Rini, Binuwa, and Dabe, were reportedly hit in a series of violent raids that prompted an immediate response from security authorities.

According to police spokesperson Superintendent of Police Bashir Usman, the operation follows directives aimed at intensifying the fight against banditry and other violent crimes across the state. He confirmed that additional deployments of police officers and other security personnel have restored relative calm in the affected areas.

The ongoing operation targets suspected high-risk locations such as forests, remote settlements, border communities, and farmlands. It includes coordinated patrols, intelligence-led stop-and-search activities, and joint operations with other security agencies.
Authorities also confirmed that two AK-47 rifles were recovered along the Illo–Kamba axis, which they described as evidence of the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing in the region.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, urged residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts by reporting suspicious movements. Traditional rulers, religious leaders, and youth groups were also called upon to provide timely intelligence to assist ongoing operations.
Investigations into the attacks are ongoing as security forces intensify efforts to track and dismantle armed groups operating in the region.
