The State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected car thieves. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe Koko.

According to the statement, operatives of the C4I Intelligence Unit apprehended the suspects, 43 year old Abubakar Abdulsalam and 35 year old Shagari Shehu, on November 20, 2025, at about 6 p.m. The arrests were made following credible intelligence that led officers to their location.
During the operation, the police recovered two vehicles allegedly stolen by the suspects: a white Toyota Hilux with a fake registration number GWA 453 GR and an ash coloured Toyota Corolla with a fake plate number LSD 420 BT. Both vehicles are now in police custody for further investigation.

The Command said detectives are carrying out a detailed investigation to determine the suspects level of involvement and to uncover any links to other car theft groups operating in the state. It added that more arrests may follow as the investigation continues.

The State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the quick action of the operatives and thanked members of the public for their cooperation. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.
The police appealed to anyone with useful information on similar cases to come forward and support ongoing investigations.
