Oyo Police Recover Remains of Five Forest Rangers Killed in National Park Attack
The Oyo State Police Command has recovered the bodies of five Forest Rangers who were killed at the National Park Service Office in Oloka, Orire Local Government Area.

According to the Command’s Spokesman, Ayanlade Olayinka, the remains were retrieved on Wednesday during an on-the-spot assessment led by Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, alongside other security chiefs, heads of sister security agencies, and the Commandant of the National Forest Rangers.
Olayinka said tactical teams, including the Mobile Police Force and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units, were deployed to the area on the CP’s orders to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.

Preliminary reports suggest that about 12 attackers emerged from nearby bushes, opened sporadic gunfire on the Rangers’ office, and then fled. Investigations are ongoing, and police say early evidence is yielding promising leads for the identification, arrest, and prosecution of the perpetrators.
Contrary to some media reports, Olayinka clarified that the attack targeted only the Forest Rangers’ facility, and swift police intervention prevented escalation in the surrounding community. The site has been forensically examined to collect all available evidence.

During his visit, CP Haruna also met with community leaders of Oloka, expressing condolences over the loss of life and reassuring them of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment, in collaboration with other security agencies, to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Olayinka emphasized that immediately after receiving reports of the attack, the CP deployed all available operatives and operational assets, successfully preventing further assaults and maintaining security in the area.
