The Presidency has debunked media reports claiming that Mr. Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), was sacked or forced to resign by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
An online publication had alleged that Ojulari was detained on Friday and pressured into signing a resignation letter by EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede and DSS Director-General Adeola Ajayi.
Reacting to the report, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, described the story as completely false and baseless.
He stated categorically that Ojulari remains in office, and there has been no directive from President Tinubu to remove or force his resignation.
Mr. Ojulari was appointed in April 2025 by President Tinubu to lead the NNPCL, bringing with him decades of experience in Nigeria’s energy sector.
“There is no truth whatsoever to the report. It is fake news,” Onanuga emphasized in a message to The Witness.
The Presidency urged the public to disregard the speculation and warned media platforms against circulating unverified claims that could mislead the public or cause unnecessary tension in the country’s oil and gas sector.
