The details of the meeting were not disclosed, but it comes shortly after reports of an attempted arrest at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, involving former Kaduna State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai.

El-Rufai, a founding member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and instrumental in President Tinubu’s 2023 election campaign, has become a vocal critic of the administration after being dropped as a ministerial nominee. Sources claimed that operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to detain him upon his return from Cairo on Thursday without a formal warrant or prior invitation, allegedly seizing his international passport temporarily—a claim yet to be verified by authorities.

It is unclear whether the airport incident was discussed during the Presidential Villa meeting, though its timing has fueled public speculation.

In addition to the core attendees, President Tinubu also met with Kwara State Governor and Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) Chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, and CEO of God is Good Motors, Chidi Ajaere. The Kwara governor left the meeting accompanied by the NSA, while the Benue governor departed without granting comments.
