The Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, has openly reaffirmed his strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring him the preferred choice for the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during a high-level visit by federal officials and community stakeholders in his palace over the weekend, the influential northern monarch expressed full confidence in the President’s leadership and developmental vision for the country.
“President Tinubu is our choice for 2027. We remain solidly behind him and will continue to support his administration to succeed,” the Emir said.
He described President Tinubu as a “tested and trusted leader” with the political experience, national reach, and resilience required to steer Nigeria through difficult times.
“As a traditional ruler and custodian of the values of our people, I speak not just for myself but for the broader Daura Emirate. We acknowledge the efforts of the current administration in addressing national challenges, and we stand firmly with him in the journey ahead,” he added.
The Emir also commended the President for the various developmental initiatives currently being implemented across the country — including reforms in infrastructure, energy, security, and agriculture — which he said were already yielding visible results.
“We understand that nation-building is not an overnight process. But we can see the groundwork being laid. President Tinubu has started on a strong foundation, and we must give him the support and time needed to consolidate these gains,” he noted.
The monarch’s remarks come amid growing political speculations ahead of the 2027 general elections. His public endorsement is widely seen as a significant political signal, given the emirate’s historic influence and close ties to northern political leadership.
Political observers note that the Emir’s strong declaration of loyalty could have ripple effects across northern Nigeria, especially within the traditional institutions and grassroots power structures.
The Emir concluded by urging Nigerians across all regions to put aside political differences and rally behind President Tinubu’s efforts to build a united, secure, and prosperous nation.
“This country belongs to all of us. Let us support the President with our prayers, cooperation, and goodwill. His success is Nigeria’s success,” he said.
