President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Sunday in preparation for his participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), which officially opens on Monday.

The arrival was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, President Tinubu’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at exactly 11:30 pm local time.
He was received by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; alongside officials of the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.
Additional members of the Nigerian delegation, including the Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed, later welcomed the President at his hotel.

President Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi from Europe, where he spent part of the end-of-year holiday and held high-level engagements with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” serves as a major global forum that convenes world leaders, policymakers, investors, and experts to promote discussions and actions around sustainable development, climate change, energy transition, and inclusive economic growth.
President Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global sustainability efforts while further strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
