President Tinubu Swears In Amupitan as New INEC Chairman (Video)

President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Joash Amupitan as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Amupitan, dressed in a white agbada and gold cap, took office following the expiration of former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu’s tenure.

The Senate confirmed Amupitan’s appointment after a screening session and voice vote. Accompanied by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo and other dignitaries, Amupitan was ushered into the Senate chamber by Senator Abubakar Lado, Presidential Adviser on National Assembly Matters. Senate President Godswill Akpabio noted that Amupitan had passed all necessary security clearances.
