President Tinubu to Commission Legacy Projects in Kaduna: Governor Uba Sani Showcases Developmental Strides (VIDEO)

The Kaduna State Government is set to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Thursday, June, 2025, for the formal commissioning of strategic developmental projects across the state—signaling a new phase of infrastructure-led governance under Governor Senator Uba Sani, CON.

The President’s visit, his first to Kaduna since the 2023 general elections, will highlight the administration’s commitment to regional development, vocational empowerment, and public service delivery.

Projects to be Commissioned: A Bold Infrastructure Package

Among the key projects scheduled for presidential commissioning are:

The Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development located in Rigachikun, Soba, and Samaru Kataf, aimed at addressing youth unemployment through practical, market-ready skill acquisition.

A 300-bed Ultra-Modern Hospital, commenced by the former Governor Nasir El- Rufai, significantly expanding the healthcare capacity of the state and expected to serve over 5,000 patients monthly across Northern and Southern Kaduna zones.

24 km Kafanchan Township Road and Tudun Biri Road rehabilitation projects, improving mobility, market access, and community connectivity in southern Kaduna.

22 km Road linking Kauru and Pambegua LGAs, opening up isolated agrarian communities to commercial centers, boosting trade and agriculture logistics.

Vocational and Skills Training Center in Tudun Biri, a major intervention in skills transfer for rural youth and women.

Introduction of 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, positioning Kaduna as a green energy pioneer among Nigerian states while easing urban transportation burdens and lowering emissions.

These projects form part of what Senator Uba Sani describes as his “Kaduna People First” blueprint for economic transformation and equitable service delivery.

Strategic Development with a Human Focus

Governor Uba Sani, who took office in 2023, inherited a legacy of infrastructural ambition from former Governor Nasir El-Rufai but has since recalibrated the state’s development strategy to include vocational empowerment, public health, and inclusive infrastructure—particularly in rural and marginalized communities.

According to Kaduna’s Ministry of Budget and Planning, over ₦320 billion has been allocated and tracked across capital projects between 2023 and 2025, with 60% of new infrastructure funds directed toward healthcare, education, and transportation.

“This commissioning is not just about roads and buildings—it’s about creating functional opportunities for our youth, improving health access, and promoting economic inclusion,” said Hon. Hafsat Baba, Kaduna State Commissioner for Human Services.

Presidential Endorsement and National Alignment

President Tinubu’s visit to Kaduna comes at a time when the federal government is emphasizing sub-national development as a key pillar of national growth. With Nigeria’s youth unemployment rate at 33.3% (as of Q1 2025), the focus on vocational training centers and green transportation aligns directly with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“What we see in Kaduna is a reflection of our national vision: to prepare the youth for the economy of tomorrow, build sustainable cities, and empower communities with functional infrastructure,” remarked Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Historical Context: Kaduna as a Northern Economic Hub

Since colonial times, Kaduna has served as the political, military, and industrial capital of Northern Nigeria. However, in recent decades, ethno-religious crises and economic neglect stifled its potential. The current administration’s focus on rebuilding Kaduna’s infrastructure, inter-ethnic connectivity, and vocational capacity seeks to restore its historic centrality.

The commissioning of the Kauru-Pambegua and Kafanchan roads, for instance, is expected to revitalize local economies and reduce travel time by up to 50%, while the CNG bus rollout places Kaduna ahead of many other states in adopting clean energy transit solutions.

Quote of the Day

“When leadership meets vision and investment meets the people, progress is inevitable. Kaduna is laying the bricks of a future its youth can walk on with dignity.”

— Dr. Gloria Adebajo-Fraser, MFR, Governance & Perception Management Consultant

Conclusion: Beyond Commissioning—Sustainability and Impact

As President Tinubu prepares to cut the ribbons on these symbolic projects, citizens and stakeholders alike will be watching not just for ceremony but for long-term impact. The durability, accessibility, and maintenance of these facilities will determine their legacy.

Governor Uba Sani’s infrastructural agenda is bold. With strategic federal support and community involvement, Kaduna may yet emerge as a national template for how sub-national governments can drive inclusive and sustainable development in Nigeria.
