PSC EXTENDS POLICE RECRUITMENT DEADLINE FOLLOWING LOW APPLICATION RATES IN SOME STATES

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced a two-week extension for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force, citing uneven participation across states.

In a statement on Monday, signed by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs for the PSC, the application portal—which opened on December 15, 2025—will now close on February 8, 2026.

The statement highlighted that while states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, other states including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra submitted noticeably fewer applications.

“This decision follows the receipt of over 400,000 applications and a review showing significant disparities in state participation. The extension aims to ensure equitable representation nationwide,” the PSC said. “All eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with lower submissions, are strongly encouraged to apply via the official portal: http://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.”

The Commission further urged state governments, local councils, sociocultural organizations, religious bodies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilize and sensitize eligible citizens to apply before the new deadline. “The PSC and NPF reaffirm their commitment to a fair and transparent recruitment process,” the statement added.
