PSC OPENS PORTAL FOR RECRUITMENT OF 50,000 POLICE CONSTABLES

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has launched the recruitment portal for 50,000 police constables.

The exercise follows a directive from President Bola Tinubu aimed at strengthening internal security and expanding the country’s policing capacity. Announced on Thursday in Abuja, the recruitment is part of efforts to enhance community policing and meet Nigeria’s growing security challenges by increasing police manpower.

According to the PSC, the online application portal will open on Monday, December 15, 2025, and close on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Interested Nigerians can submit their applications through the dedicated platform: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

The Commission stated that the recruitment will be conducted jointly with the NPF to ensure a transparent, merit-based process. Applications are completely free, and the public was cautioned against fraudsters attempting to exploit applicants.

“The recruitment covers both General Duty and Specialist positions. For General Duty, candidates must have at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in WASSCE, NECO, GCE, or equivalent, obtained in no more than two sittings.

“Specialists require a minimum of four credits, including English and Mathematics, along with at least three years of relevant experience and Trade Test certifications in their chosen field.

“All applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth. Age requirements are 18–25 years for General Duty and 18–28 years for Specialists. Candidates must also be medically, physically, and psychologically fit. Height requirements apply to General Duty applicants only: 1.67m for males and 1.64m for females,” the PSC said.

Additional role-specific requirements and detailed guidelines will be published on the recruitment portal when it becomes active on December 15.

Torty Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, stated that the PSC and NPF have coordinated to ensure a smooth, manipulation-free recruitment process. He reiterated that no payment is required at any stage and warned the public to avoid falling victim to extortion.

The Commission encouraged eligible Nigerians to seize the opportunity to serve their country and contribute to national security and policing reforms by joining the Nigeria Police Force.
