The Prophet says Ameen climbing the Minbar
Narrated Abu Hurairah:
The Prophet (ﷺ) ascended the pulpit and he said, “ Ameen, ameen, ameen.” It was said, “O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), you ascended the pulpit and said ameen (thrice).” The Prophet said (ﷺ), “ Verily, Jibreel (Angel Gabriel) came to me and he said: Whoever reaches the month of Ramadhan and he is not forgiven, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say ameen. I said ameen. Whoever sees his parents in their old age, one or both of them, and he does not honor them and he dies, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say ameen. I said ameen. Whoever has your name mentioned in his presence and he does not send blessings upon you and he dies, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say ameen. I said ameen.”
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَقَالَ آمِينَ آمِينَ آمِينَ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ حِينَ صَعِدْتَ الْمِنْبَرَ قُلْتَ آمِينَ آمِينَ آمِينَ قَالَ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ أَتَانِي فَقَالَ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ وَلَمْ يُغْفَرْ لَهُ فَدَخَلَ النَّارَ فَأَبْعَدَهُ اللَّهُ قُلْ آمِينَ فَقُلْتُ آمِينَ وَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ أَبَوَيْهِ أَوْ أَحَدَهُمَا فَلَمْ يَبَرَّهُمَا فَمَاتَ فَدَخَلَ النَّارَ فَأَبْعَدَهُ اللَّهُ قُلْ آمِينَ فَقُلْتُ آمِينَ وَمَنْ ذُكِرْتُ عِنْدَهُ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْكَ فَمَاتَ فَدَخَلَ النَّارَ فَأَبْعَدَهُ اللَّهُ قُلْ آمِينَ فَقُلْتُ آمِينَ

NOTES 📝
1. The Prophet ﷺ directed his nation to the forms of goodness and the doors that leads to them. He was also urging the ummah to do something that would bring them closer to Paradise and keep them away from Hell. This hadith under review is an example of such of his ﷺ exhortations.
2. Three key invaluable lessons can be taken from this hadith; praying for sallah and sallaam for the Prophet ﷺ whenever his name is mentioned, exhortation for diligence in ‘ibaadah (worship) and seeking forgiveness in the month of Ramadhan, and lastly, exhortation for diligence in the righteousness and honor towards parents, especially when they are advanced in age. All three deeds above are means to earning Allah’s pleasure and Paradise while ignoring or not paying attention to them can lead to Hellfire especially when the supplication (curse) were made by Jibreel and the Prophet ﷺ obliged by saying Ãmeen to them.
O Allah, aid us in becoming righteous, grant us Taqwa so that we may do abundant good deeds during this month of Ramadhan and beyond. And make it means of earning Your Pleasure … Ãmeen
