SALAH ‘DESTROYING HIS LEGACY’ AT LIVERPOOL, ROONEY WARNS

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has warned that Mohamed Salah is risking his legacy at Liverpool following recent public comments about the club.

Salah expressed frustration on Saturday, saying he felt Liverpool had “thrown him under the bus” and revealed tensions with head coach Arne Slot.

According to BBC Sport, Rooney believes that Slot should assert his authority by potentially excluding Salah from Liverpool’s upcoming matches against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday and Brighton at home next Saturday.

“Arne Slot has to pull him in and make it clear: ‘You are not travelling with the team; what you said is unacceptable. Take yourself off to Afcon and let everything settle. If I were him, there would be no way he would be in the squad,’” Rooney said on his latest podcast.

Rooney added that Salah needs to resolve his differences with Slot or consider leaving Liverpool, emphasizing that “It needs to be sorted out quickly either way.”

The former England international also questioned why Salah, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017, would voice his grievances publicly.

“He is absolutely destroying his legacy at Liverpool. It would be sad for him to throw it all away. He’s gone about it all wrong,” Rooney said.

Earlier reports by PUNCH Online noted that Salah had voiced dissatisfaction over limited playing time, claiming that someone at the club was trying to make him the scapegoat for recent setbacks.
