Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano State and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, welcomed several top Nigerian political figures to his Kano residence on Sunday as part of the Sallah festivities.
Among those present were Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi; Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; and former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson. Kwankwaso described the gathering as a joyful celebration, extending goodwill wishes of peace and prosperity to all.
The visit has drawn attention amid ongoing political engagements across party lines, with observers linking such meetings to possible future alliances.
During the annual ‘kalankuwa’ event held at Kwankwaso’s residence, Peter Obi stated that his visit was purely to celebrate Sallah and show respect. He also used the opportunity to emphasize the need to revive Kano’s industrial sector, particularly in key areas like Bompai and Sharada.
Obi highlighted Kano’s past as a major commercial hub and called for efforts to restore inactive industries in order to boost economic growth and job creation. He stressed that the gathering was not politically motivated but centered on the Sallah celebration.
