The Senate has expressed condolences to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, and the families of Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Paiko and other soldiers killed in Borno State. The Senate Committee on Army described the fallen soldiers as heroes who exemplified the highest standards of military professionalism and patriotism. The committee pledged continued support to ensure the welfare and resources for the Nigerian Army to maintain peace and security.
It also extended sympathies to the families, praying for their comfort and that the soldiers’ sacrifices inspire a safer Nigeria. The soldiers, including Paiko, died on October 17, 2025, while foiling a Boko Haram attack in the Kashimri area of Bama Local Government Area, as part of Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI under the 21 Special Armoured Brigade. The Nigerian Army hailed their bravery, stating their legacies will endure.
