Senator Araraume Hails Tinubu’s Reforms as Nigeria Celebrates 65 Years of Independence

ABUJA – Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has congratulated President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians on the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary, praising the administration’s reforms as pivotal to national growth.

In a statement made available to journalists, Araraume described the anniversary as a historic milestone that underscores Nigeria’s resilience, unity, and determination to build a more prosperous future.

“On the joyous occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, heartfelt congratulations are extended to President Bola Tinubu GCFR and every citizen across our great nation,” he said. “This milestone offers a timely opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s collective journey, one marked by resilience, unity, and significant progress in the ongoing quest to build a stronger, more prosperous society.”

Araraume commended Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda which, according to him, are reshaping the country’s economic and social landscape. He pointed to initiatives such as the Consumer Credit Corporation and the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund targeted at job creation, poverty reduction, and economic diversification.

He also referenced the Solarisation Project, expected to provide power to more than 25 million rural Nigerians through mini-grids and home systems, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

On fiscal policies, Araraume noted that reforms had cut the debt service-to-revenue ratio from 97% to below 50%. He added that the removal of fuel subsidies and unification of exchange rates had redirected resources toward development and helped stabilise the economy.

The senator also highlighted progress in youth and education, citing the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has already disbursed over ₦10 billion in interest-free loans to indigent students, and the Digital and Creative Enterprises (DICE) scheme designed to equip young Nigerians with technology and innovation skills.

On infrastructure, he pointed to the rehabilitation of more than 3,000 kilometres of roads, upgrades at airports and seaports, and the Lagos-Ibadan railway line as projects boosting connectivity and trade. He also commended reforms in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), which he said were driving urban renewal and civil service growth.

“These reforms serve as clear demonstrations of the administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, sustainable development, and a brighter future for all Nigerians,” Araraume stated.

He urged citizens to unite in pursuit of nation-building, stressing that Nigeria can overcome its challenges and unlock its full potential through collective effort.
