Former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kwankwaso received his membership card on Monday in Kano, confirming his move to the party after days of speculation.

The development comes shortly after he announced his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). In a statement he personally signed on Sunday, Kwankwaso said his decision was influenced by recent shifts in the country’s political landscape, which he believes require a new direction.
He expressed gratitude to the NNPP for the opportunity to serve as its national leader and presidential candidate in the 2023 election.
Earlier, top ADC figures had visited his residence in Kano ahead of the formal defection, signalling the party’s readiness to welcome him into its ranks.
