Setback for Atiku, El-Rufai, Others as PDP Governors Reject Coalition Against Tinubu and APC in 2027

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have ruled out the possibility of a merger or coalition with any other political party against the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This was one of the outcome of the PDP Governors meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State between Sunday and Monday.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, read the communique to journalists.

Governor Mohammed said they were open to welcoming anyone or parties that want to join the party.

The Presidential Candidate of the PDP and that of the Labour Party in the last election, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have been canvassing for a coalition that will oust the APC in 2027.

Also, Nasir El-Rufai, former Kaduna governor, who recently defected from the ruling party to Social Democratic Party (SDP) is among those pushing for coalition to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC in 2027.
