Seven members of the National Working Committee (NWC), of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have resigned from their respective positions as the leadership crisis rocking the party escalated further on Tuesday.

The main opposition party is currently in the middle of a major feud as some members of the party are said to be at cold war with the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus over his leadership style.

Reports had emerged that some NWC members who are not at home with the leadership style of Secondus have called for his resignation or that he be sacked before the party’s Congress scheduled for December.

According to reports, many of the NWC members are not convinced that Secondus can deliver the 2023 polls for the PDP.

On Tuesday, the Deputy National Financial Secretary; Deputy Legal Adviser; Deputy National Auditor; Deputy National Publicity Secretary; Deputy Women Leader; and Deputy Organising Secretary, have all resigned from their various positions, citing “bad treatment, unpleasant working environment”, as the reasons for their action.

The seven NWC members however, assured to remain loyal to the party, amid tension that they might switch allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
