President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday night presided over his first National Caucus meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
The meeting, which commenced at 7:20 PM, serves as a precursor to the National Executive Council (NEC) session scheduled for Wednesday at the party’s secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja.
In attendance were key party leaders, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, who was accompanied by nine other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Also present were several APC governors, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, as well as notable party figures from the South-South, South-West, and Northern regions, including Chief Bisi Akande, Timipre Sylva, and Senator Abdulaziz Yari.
Key agenda items included discussions on a non-elective convention, formation of party standing committees, the establishment of The Progressive Institute (TPI), and the implementation of a membership e-registration exercise. Additionally, the caucus reviewed ongoing litigations involving the party.
The high-profile meeting marks a significant step in Tinubu’s leadership of the APC, as the party strategizes for the future.
