Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, received glowing tributes from Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Senate, Northern Governors, and other political leaders as she marked her 65th birthday on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

In a statement titled “Celebrating 65 Years of Grace, Service and Compassion,” Vice President Shettima hailed the First Lady as an “inestimable mother of the nation,” praising her compassion, strength, and decades of service. His wife, Nana Shettima, also commended Mrs. Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), describing it as a transformative platform redefining women’s leadership and inspiring young Nigerians.

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, lauded her lifelong devotion to children, women, the elderly, and education, noting her impact through both the New Era Foundation and the RHI.

The Senate, led by its President, Godswill Akpabio, described Mrs. Tinubu as a “pillar of love and strength,” with Akpabio emphasising that her contributions to nation-building transcend politics. Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Solomon Adeola, and Senator Tokunbo Abiru also paid tributes, highlighting her humanitarian legacy and historic achievements as the first woman to serve as First Lady at both state and federal levels and a three-time senator.

From the North, Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, praised the First Lady as a matriarch of dignity and compassion, whose projects under the RHI have provided succour to thousands. Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo described her as “an Amazon and a source of inspiration to millions of Nigerians.”

Former Lagos Central senator and ex-High Commissioner to Ghana, Musiliu Obanikoro, called Mrs. Tinubu “a reliable support system” for President Tinubu and a progressive figure who has redefined the role of the First Lady.

The outpouring of tributes, marked by messages of admiration and gratitude, underscored Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s enduring influence as a mother, leader, and humanitarian figure in Nigeria’s political and social landscape.
