Vice-President Kashim Shettima has commended Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, for his contributions to Nigeria’s development, describing him as a leader of ideas and integrity.
Speaking on Tuesday at Soludo’s second-term inauguration in Awka, Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, said the governor’s insights and commentaries have positively influenced national policies.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, the vice-president praised Soludo’s intellectual depth and commitment to nation-building, noting that his views on economic and political issues have enriched public discourse and policy direction.

According to Shettima, true leadership goes beyond party lines and focuses on the collective good of the nation. He said Soludo exemplifies this by prioritising national interest over political differences.
“Nation-building requires putting the welfare of the country above partisan interests,” he said, adding that Nigeria’s diversity should be a strength rather than a source of division.
He further noted that Soludo has shown that leadership can unite people without hostility, persuading through reason rather than force, even in politically tense times.
Shettima said it was not surprising that the people of Anambra re-elected the governor, describing the victory as a renewed trust in competence and effective leadership. He also acknowledged the role of Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim, highlighting the importance of teamwork in governance.

The vice-president added that Soludo has maintained a cordial and productive relationship with the federal government, which has helped promote stability and progress in the state.
He pointed out that under Soludo’s leadership, efforts have been made to improve security, restore order, and tackle criminal activities affecting parts of the state. He expressed confidence that the governor’s second term would build on these achievements and deliver further development.
Shettima also reassured that the federal government remains committed to working with state governments to improve the lives of Nigerians.
In his response, Soludo pledged to continue serving the people with dedication, promising to consolidate on the gains of his first term across sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and finance.
He thanked the people of Anambra for their strong support during the election, describing the overwhelming votes he received as a sign of trust and partnership in rebuilding the state.
